EVENTS of '99

and how they went off.

OKAY!!!! Well the first big event to kick off the year here in Christchurch was ofcourse ANDY C and MC GQ. Going off on the 19th of Februaruy, I didn't get to go coz I hadn't got my U card yet and tickets cost $25 at the door. I'm just a poor student so I didn't have the money at the time... :-(

GROOVERIDER UK mixing and spinning legend bringing us great mixing such as "Where's Jack The Ripper" which you would have heard on my previous page.

Anyone who lives in Auckland, Newzealand must be having some time, coz y'all getting acts like COLDCUT and THE BRAIN (which has been rumoured to be in Christchurch soon aswell, though I haven't heard of it yet).

Following ANDY C AND MC GQ shortly came TRANCEFUSION. It went off at Castle Hill in the snowy depths of the SOuth Island where resident genii KINESIS and ARGYLE and other such masters of the electronic played. Among those was one such legend rumoured to be on around 10 trips!!!!!!!! NOT blanks either!!!! BUT as it happens this did affect his set and the sounds were not the best. He shall remain namelessfor now, but those who were there will know who I mean.

At the very beginning of the year was INTERSECT another outdoors event held at Otira Gorge in the township. That apparently FULLY went off, but as transport with mucho gas was needed neither me nor my friends could go and were forced to undergo listening to countless reports of the hype filled evening at WestPac Trust Stadium with THE FEELERS. The Feelers aren't bad, but comeon, I was missing a night filled with KINESIS, ARGYLE, PYLON, K8, LARAKIN and GRIND. Only $5 and camping vailable, what a deal!

ORIENTATION 99

Orientation 99 was a good one. Filled with bands AND beats for both young AND old everyone could enjoy the soundz emanating from Canty U.

26 Feb- DAVE DOBBYN~ I am not impressed...
3 Mar-Dulux Boy, Zed ~ great for bands lovers, even I like them....
MC SOLAA great for hip hop and acid jazz fans. I think this was the second best night of the whole orientation...
5 Mar-
SALMONELLA DUB ~ This was the best night BY FAR!!! Much love to RDU and MASSIVE PRODUCTIONS for putting this one in, but then how could you not! BUNYIP also played and made good use of the overall feel of DUB and SKA.

That was an overall summary of orientation, and who played when etc, but there was more to it. Mix MAster Mike played, tho I didn't go (again, finances) so I couldn't tell you how that went. All I can say is check out next years orientation... It's gonna go off something chronic.

****** HOW COULD I FORGET?? Grooverider (now that I actually went) TOTALLY went off, however, I was only able to enjoy a couple of hours of it as I have ahd the flu recently andfelt like throwing up... damn smoke machines!!!
